The inspiration for our Etch Faucet Series came from design collaboration between VP of Interior Design & Architecture, Darla Dillon, and Product Development Manager Cliff Joseph. Their goal was to develop a product line distinctive from current CASK Industries product offerings, with functional, aesthetic features that provide a particular appeal. Cortland Design developed concepts based around simple, straight and angular segments, which is consistent throughout the overall form as well as in the modestly applied etched texture (i.e. the texture at the grip ends of the regulator handles and also at the base of the drain pull lever).

There are several phases involved in developing a new product. Our process begins with collaboration from the Design and Merchandising teams, followed by project phases including design concept sketching, concept critique and selection, dimensional design drawing generation, industrial design and engineering interface (in partnership with our Shanghai Engineering and Quality Control team), 3-Dimensional Design Mock-Up (3D Printing) and collaborative review, production engineering, prototyping, prototype assessment for revision and approval, and tooling and manufacturing.

Our Product Design and Development team is excited to continue Cortland Design’s entry into original product design, which began with CASK’s exterior lighting and plumbing product lines, and will expand into interior lighting as well as designated fixture types in upcoming launch seasons. We look forward to perfecting the process and continuing to raise the innovative bar!
